The PICS Society: The PICS Society is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization headquartered in Chicago IL as the primary global professional society of congenital heart disease interventionalists and their teams. PICS was incorporated in 2007 to offer the annual PICS Educational Symposium. Given the growth of the profession, in 2020 the founding documents were amended to add the full spectrum of programs provided by medical specialty societies. The PICS Society has grown rapidly, currently having 600+ members and 18 committees active in education, guidelines, health policy, quality and other arenas.

The PICS Academy is a unique, global two-year blend of mentor supervision and team-based learning. The structure includes (1) monthly videoconference education, (2) 3 in-person sessions adjunctive to in-person symposia, (3) team-based research projects and (4) mentoring. The program includes didactics, clinical practice skills, research, soft/hard skills development, importance of collaboration, approaches from multiple cultures and patient/family viewpoints. Opportunities for hands-on skills development, industry interaction and research publishing are key components.
